Winter Season options
January to April
Two programs offered during the Winter season. Please read about both options below.
Our winter season is our primary season where players will receive the most opportunities to develop and play. United offers opportunities to play against other programs from around the state as well as locally in Scottsdale as part of our in-house league. The winter season is the time when United enters teams into the Youth Lacrosse of Arizona League (YLA). Those players selected for the 10U, 12U, and 14U teams will compete against clubs from around the Valley as well as Tucson. These players will also play in the competitive division of the in-house league.
United In-State Travel Teams:
United teams will travel to game sites around the Valley to play 2 games each Saturday during our season. We will hold evaluations for these teams the week of Dec. 11th. Because we have more players than roster spots, evaluations are necessary to select players with similar skill level. We expect to have 2 14U teams, 1 12U team, and 1 10U team.
Games are played against teams from Tucson, Ahwatukee, Anthem, Gilbert, Tempe, Glendale, Cave Creek, Desert Ridge, Arcadia, and more. Competitive teams practice 2x per week. The season begins in January and ends in April.
These players will ALSO be included on rosters for the in-house league.
United House League Teams:
All players are eligible and there are no tryouts. Teams will be chosen to ensure competitive, balanced games. Games will be played on Sundays in Scottsdale. House players do not travel, and will practice 1x per week. House league will have both developmental and competitive divisions.
Which is best for my athlete:
United House League:
- Unable to travel on weekends
- New to lacrosse (development division)
- Experienced players (competitive division)
- No tryouts
- Everyone will be rostered
- Less commitment
- 1-90 min practice per week
- Sunday games locally
- Focus on skill and IQ development
- United lacrosse coaching provided
- Begin January ending March
- Players from around the Valley can participate
United YLA Travel Team:
- Play in the Youth Lacrosse of Arizona League (YLA)
- Also included on competitive division in-house rosters
- Retuning players
- Player evaluations required
- Limited roster spots
- Can travel to sites around the Valley on Saturdays to play
- 2-90 min practices per week
- 2 games each Saturday (some Fridays are possible)
- Focus on both skill development and team concepts
- United lacrosse coaching provided
- Additional uniform cost
- Begin January ending April
- Also play HOUSE league games
- Must be within the Scottsdale Unified School district borders or go to school within the borders, to be eligible. Borders are set by the league.
United House League
$250 (1st-8th)
- 1-90 min practice per week
- Games Sundays locally
- Players assigned teams
- Developmental and Competitive divisions
- 6 weeks of games
